Vue de la Rance Chambre d'hôtes & Gites

Places to explore by bike

Whether you bring your own bike, or arrange to rent one, there is excellent access to safe, attractive cycle tracks. It is less than a kilometre to get on the Rance Canal cycle track which will take you alongside the river to Dinan in about 20 minutes. 2 kilometres in the opposite direction you can join the cycle route to Dinard which runs over the route of the former Dinan – Dinard railway. In about an hour you should be on the beach in Dinard. From there you can take your bike on the short foot passenger ferry to Saint Malo.

La Hisse is located at the point where the Rance changes from freshwater river to tidal estuary

The surroundong area is fabulous for cycling, with many cycle paths

Places to explore on foot

There are lots of pleasant walks from Vue de la Rance. Less than a 5 minute walk along the same road are a restaurant, a bar and creperie. A 10 or 15 minute walk will take you to the port of Lyvet where there are more restaurants, and lots of boats.

Places to explore by car

The nearby roads are generally quiet (with the exception of the centre of Dinan which can get very congested).  Many guests say that 3 or 4 days is an ideal length of time to explore what the area has to offer.  These are the most popular suggestions for visits by car:

Dinan (10 minutes drive) – historic town with cobbled streets leading down to the historic port.  A market is held on Thursday

Dinard (20 minutes) – a stylish seaside town influenced by the British

Saint Malo (30 minutes) – historic walled city with a long maritime history

Mont St Michel (45 minutes) – iconic monastery on an island separated from the mainland by a causeway.  One of the region’s most popular tourist attractions

Rennes (50 minutes) – Capital of Brittany.  The market, held on Saturday morning, is one of France’s largest

Vue de la Rance stands on a cliff with spectacular views from all bedrooms looking down on the Rance valley
